Wildlife Violation and License Legacy Specifications
This section provides format and examples for Wildlife Violator File queries (WLQ) and the resulting responses (WLR).
Query Formats
The format for Wildlife Violator and License Holder File queries (WLQ) is as follows:

Response Formats
The following guidelines are used for Wildlife Violation and License Responses (WLR)
- An WLR must be used to respond to an WLQ inquiry.
- Nlets will not dictate response formats.
- States should utilize their state formats in the responses.
- Utilize the NCIC 2000 responses guidelines when possible.
- States should attempt to show what action was taken on the search. (For example, a record may be available on JOHN DOE; however, no information was found on the SOC. The requester should be told this.
- The requester should be notified if the state does not have the ability to search their file by one of the indices (For example, SSN).
- In all cases the original inquiry should be the first part of all responses in order to let the requester identify their request.
